Recreational fund created in the Keweenaw

HANCOCK, MI--   The Keweenaw Community Foundation and Portage Health Foundation have created a new fund.

Officials say the Portage Health Foundation Community Wellness and Outdoor Recreation Fund was created to support the outdoor recreational needs of residents. The fund will be maintained and managed by KCF.

The $60,000 that’s available this grant cycle will support non-profits in Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon counties. Specific terms for the fund will come through a “request for proposal” process.

Officials say the purpose of the fund will be to aid programs or projects that influence or support individual physical activity and healthy nutrition.
