Rescue equipment stolen along M-28

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI--   Chocolay Township Police are asking for the public’s help in finding some stolen water rescue equipment.

Recently several items were taken from rescue stations at the first and second turnouts on M-28.  They include an orange and white throw ring marked Property of CTFD in black paint and two water rescue cans, similarly marked.

The equipment is provided by the Chocolay Township Fire Department in the hopes it will be available when needed to save people. Officials say when it’s stolen, it takes time and money to replace, and it may not be there when it’s needed.

A $100 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the person who took the equipment.
