Roundabouts opening Wednesday at US-41/M-28 Marquette Township project

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   Marquette Township’s new roundabouts are set to open Wednesday.

The Michigan Department of Transportation says all temporary traffic signals in the work zone will also be removed. The grassy median will be constructed next year, so traffic barrels delineating the median will stay in place over the winter. “Michigan Lefts” will be marked to allow indirect left turns through the median.

The project will be suspended for the winter when weather prohibits further work. Median construction, vegetation planting, landscaping, and other items will be completed next spring.

Officials say a new multi-use tunnel has been constructed beneath the highway, just west of CR 492.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
