Schoolcraft County crash claims man's life

DOYLE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Gulliver man has died in a single-vehicle accident in Schoolcraft County.

Michigan State Police from the Manistique Detachment say it happened Wednesday around 5:30 p.m. on Port Inland Road just south of US-2 in Doyle Township. They say a vehicle driven by Paul McGahan, 57, of Gulliver was southbound when it left the roadway, went into the ditch, and struck a tree.

McGahan was taken to Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
