Semi jackknifes in Gladstone accident

GLADSTONE, MI--   One person was injured in a traffic crash in Gladstone Thursday.  

Gladstone Public Safety officers say it happened around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of US-2 and M-35.  A semi hauling a load of lumber was northbound on US-2 when it ran a red light.  It struck a westbound pickup truck that was crossing the highway.  The semi jackknifed and lost its load. 

The semi driver—from Dollar Bay—was cited for disregarding a red light. 

The pickup driver—from Gladstone—was taken to St. Francis Hospital for treatment.  There’s no word on the driver’s condition.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
