MANISTIQUE, MI-- U.S. Senator Gary Peters visited Schoolcraft and Alger counties Monday.
The Michigan Democrat made a stop in Manistique in the morning to tour the UP Paper mill. The facility uses recycled material to make lightweight paper for bags. Peters said he wanted to hear about issues facing manufacturers in the state.
Later in the afternoon the Senator went to Chatham to see Michigan State University’s Upper Peninsula Research and Extension Center. He said he wanted to highlight his efforts to ensure the state’s farmers have access to the resources they need to grow and succeed.
