Several vehicles involved in Ely Township crash

ELY TOWNSHIP, MI--   Two people were injured in a three-vehicle accident in Ely Township over the weekend.

Troopers from the Negaunee Post say the crash happened Saturday around 7 p.m. on US-41 and County Road 496.  They say an eastbound vehicle driven by Pamela Martz, 59, of Ishpeming was slowing for vehicles that were stopped ahead of her when she was rear-ended by a car driven by Donald Clary, 36, of Marquette.  Martz’ vehicle was pushed into the back of another vehicle driven by Mark Aepelbacher, 57, of East Jordan, Michigan.

Martz and Clary were taken to U.P. Health System Bell for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Clary was cited for failing to stop within assured clear distance.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
