Siding on Escanaba house catches fire

ESCANABA, MI--   No major damage is reported, following a house fire in Escanaba.

Public Safety Officers were called Monday around 9:45 p.m. to 211 N. 16th Street and found vinyl siding near the front door on fire. An officer used a fire extinguisher until the fire truck arrived. Personnel attacked the flames until they were extinguished.

No injuries were sustained.

Preliminary investigation indicates a discarded cigarette is the likely cause of the fire.
