Skandia man injured in Alger County crash

ROCK RIVER TOWNSHIP, MI--   One person was sent to the hospital, following a two-vehicle crash in Alger County Sunday. 

Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post were dispatched around 1:15 p.m. to M-94 near Kannisto Road in Rock River Township. Investigation revealed Scott Schappe, 54, of Skandia pulled out onto the highway from Kannisto Road and into the path of a vehicle driven by Christopher Koren, 45, of Marquette.

Schappe was taken to UPHS-Marquette with unknown injuries. Koren was not injured.

Schappe was cited for failure to yield.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
