Snowmobile crash injures two in Negaunee Township

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI--   Two people suffered minor injuries when a snowmobile crashed in Negaunee Township Friday.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched around 12:55 p.m. to Trail #14 about 5.2 miles east of County Road 510. Deputies say Debra Baker, 53, of Linden, Wisconsin was driving the machine with Joleen Meckley, 40, of Dodgeville Wisconsin as a passenger. The snowmobile went off the trail and hit several small trees. Baker and Meckley were both ejected.

The women were taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment.

Neither speed nor alcohol are considered to be factors in the accident.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
