Soo man sentenced for being accessory in homicide case

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--   A Sault Ste. Marie man who pleaded to helping his cousin kill another man has been sentenced.

Aaron Lehre, 21, pleaded guilty to 2nd degree home invasion and accessory after the fact. He was given 75 months to 15 years in prison.

Lehre and his cousin Jeremy were arrested in November of 2017 following an assault on Wesley Cook, 48, in the Sault. Cook was airlifted to Ann Arbor but later died of his injuries.

Jeremy Lehre was found guilty in September of homicide-open murder, tampering with evidence, larceny in a building, and malicious destruction of property between $1,000 and $20,000.

He’s scheduled to be sentenced December 11 in Chippewa County Circuit Court.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
