Stabbing suspect facing charges in Menominee County

DAGGETT TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Menominee County man is jailed in connection with a stabbing incident in Daggett Township.

The Escanaba Daily Press reports Sheriff’s deputies responded Sunday around 2:35 p.m. to the scene and found Rey Alberto Rios, 31, of Daggett had been stabbed several times with a pair of scissors.

Investigation led to the arrest of Giovanny Hernandez-Rosa, 31, also of Daggett.  Officials say the crime appears to have stemmed from a workplace-related altercation.

Rios was taken to Bay Area Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition.

Hernandez-Rosa is charged with assault to do great bodily harm.  He remains lodged in the Menominee County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

The case remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
