ESCANABA, MI (AP)-- The annual U.P. State Fair returns to Escanaba with a midway carnival, live music acts and farm animal exhibits.
Governed by representatives from all 15 Upper Peninsula counties and the Hannahville Indian Community, the fair opens at 5 p.m. Monday and runs through Friday.
Livestock events are scheduled throughout the week. The fair also features a mobile zoo, acrobats, chain saw carving and sand sculptures.
This marks the fifth year it will operate without funding from the state. The fair first opened in 1928.
