Stolen vehicle chased through Marquette and Marquette Township

MARQUETTE, MI--   A Negaunee woman was arrested for stealing a car and leading Marquette Police on a chase through the area. 

Sunday around 10:20 a.m. officers tried to stop a tan Ford Taurus after it ran a stop sign at the corner of West Bluff Street and Rublein Street. The driver took off north on McClellan Avenue and made a left on West Ridge Street, then began to pick up speed. It was then officers learned the vehicle was reported stolen.

The driver turned onto Meeske Avenue and went westbound on Werner Street before running several stop signs in Marquette Township at speeds of up to 45 mph.

The driver eventually stopped in the 4200 block of US-41 in the Township.

Police arrested Jenny Donahue, 34, of Negaunee for fleeing and eluding, unlawful driving away of an automobile, and suspended driving – 3rd offense.

The Marquette Police Department was assisted by the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office and troopers from the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
