ANN ARBOR, MI (MPRN)-- The University of Michigan needs to do more to atone for allowing the late Doctor Robert Anderson to sexually abuse patients.
That's according to several survivors who spoke at a press conference Wednesday. They say the university hasn’t done enough to fully investigate institutional complicity in Anderson’s decades of abuse.
Jon Vaughn says he was abused by Anderson when he was a U of M football player from 1988 through 1991. He says he and other survivors will "expose the entire truth of this evil.”
“We will no longer be anonymous. We will no longer be faceless. We will no longer be silent. We will fight for who those who feel they do not have a voice, we will stand together in this fight.”
Vaughn and other survivors demanded that the university agree to a full, independent investigation by Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s office.
A U of M spokesman says the university is engaged in a court-guided mediation process with survivors of Anderson's abuse.
