Suspect in Hancock stabbing charged

HANCOCK, MI--   A Hancock woman accused of stabbing a 57-year-old man has been arraigned in Houghton County District Court.   

Sarah Youmans, 41, is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. 

Police arrested her Friday around 7:50 a.m. on Summit Street.  The victim suffered stab wounds to his left shoulder area.  He was taken to U.P. Health System Portage for treatment. 

A probable cause hearing for Youmans is set for August 31.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
