Suspected drunken driver crashes car in Marquette Township

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   One person was injured in a single-vehicle crash in Marquette Township Wednesday.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched around 8:30 p.m. to the intersection of Grove Street and County Road 492. They say the 21-year-old driver of a Chevy Cruze was westbound on Grove when she ran a stop sign at the intersection. The vehicle crossed both lanes of traffic and hit an embankment on the other side of the road.

The uninjured driver was later arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated.

A 21-year-old woman in the back seat was taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Michigan State Police and Marquette Township Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.

The case remains under investigation.
