Theft reported at Calumet Township camp

CALUMET TOWNSHIP, MI--   The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the break-in of a camp in Calumet Township.

Deputies say someone broke glass on the front door of the house on Lakeshore drive. Numerous items were stolen, including several long guns, a pistol, fishing poles and tackle, a compound bow, about 30 pounds of agate rocks, and old coins.

Officials say the break-in happened sometime between 4 p.m. Sunday and Monday, when the owner returned to the camp.

Anyone with information regarding the crime is asked to call the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office at 906-482-0055. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
