Three injured in Stephenson crash

STEPHENSON, MI--   Michigan State Police are investigating a two-vehicle accident that happened in Menominee County Sunday.

Troopers from the Gladstone Post say it happened in front of the Cedar River Plaza in Stephenson. A northbound vehicle tried to turn left into the plaza parking lot, and turned into the path of a southbound vehicle.

The diver of the northbound vehicle sustained severe, but non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Bay Area Medical Center in Marinette for treatment. His infant daughter was properly restrained in the back seat and wasn’t injured.

Two men in the southbound vehicle had to be extricated from the wreckage. The driver was taken to Bay Area Medical Center. The passenger sustained severe injuries to his lower extremities and was flown from the scene by Valley Med Flight.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
