Three UP towns offer testing for COVID-19

MARQUETTE, MI--   The Michigan National Guard is assisting local health departments in offering COVID-19 testing in Munising, Newberry and St. Ignace this week.

The first event takes place Monday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Alger County Road Commission in Munising.

Testing in St. Ignace happens Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Little Bear East Arena.

And on Saturday testing will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Luce County Road Commission in Newberry.

Two weeks ago all Michigan National Guard testing events were suspended temporarily due to the identification of positive coronavirus cases among some team members. The guard immediately implemented self-isolation and quarantine protocols for the testing teams. All team members have since been cleared by public health officials in accordance with Centers for Disease Control guidance and have tested negative for the virus.
