Traveling this holiday season? Remember these tips

SAWYER, MI--   Officials at Sawyer International Airport are providing tips to help make your holiday travel a more positive experience.

They say remember the 3-1-1 Liquid Rule: 3-ounce containers or smaller in 1 quart-size clear plastic bag; one bag per traveler.

Wait to wrap any gifts you’re bringing until you get to your destination in case they need to be inspected.

Build in extra time for your trip, be patient, and plan to arrive early.

Stay connected to your airline via email or cell phone number, as they will most likely be used for communication in case of delays. Make use of travel apps such as Flight Aware to check the status of your flight or CityMaps2Go for local travel once you reach your destination.

Planning ahead will help you take advantage of lower rates and travel deals.

Be prepared for layovers or long trips.
