Trenary man causes US-41 crash by attempting U-turn

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   No serious injuries are reported in a two-vehicle accident on US-41 near Brickyard Road in Marquette Township Thursday.

Sheriff’s deputies say a Dodge Caravan driven by Vaughn Laurila of Negaunee was westbound on US-41 around 3:15 p.m. He was approaching Brickyard Road when a GMC Envoy driven by Frank Grimsby of Trenary entered the highway from the shoulder to make a U-turn.

Laurila tried to avoid Grimsby but struck him in the center lane.

Both drivers declined medical treatment at the scene.

Grimsby was cited for failure to yield and improper lane use.
