Truck tears porch off Crystal Falls house

CRYSTAL FALLS, MI--   A vehicle towing a camper has hit a house in Crystal Falls.

Monday around 10 p.m. the Iron County Sheriff’s Office was called to a residence on US-2 near Oswald Street.  Deputies say a truck pulling a camper was westbound on the highway when it veered off the road and struck a house on the south side of the street.  The impact tore the porch off the house.

The driver of the truck—a 53-year-old North Carolina resident—was conscious but unresponsive.  Officials believe a medical event caused the accident.  The driver was taken to Aspirus Hospital in Iron River.

The house was occupied by three adults and five children.  No injuries were reported.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
