Two cars involved in Chocolay crash

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP--   Three people have suffered injuries in a Chocolay Township crash.

Township Police say the accident happened Saturday around 12:15 p.m. on M-28 just east of Hiawatha.

Gretchen Klasner of Marquette was eastbound in a Subaru Forrester when she lost control of the vehicle and spun into the path of a westbound Nissan Xterra driven by Patricia Williams of Marquette.

Both drivers and a passenger in the Williams vehicle were taken to U.P. Health System Marquette.  There’s no word on the extent of their injuries.

Officials do not believe alcohol was a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation.

Michigan State Police, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, and the Chocolay Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
