Two killed in St. Ignace crash

ST. IGNACE, MI--   The Marquette community is mourning two residents killed in a St. Ignace traffic accident Friday.

Jacob Johnson, 18, was the driver of a car that struck a pickup truck driven by Meghann Colegrove, 28, of St. Ignace around noon on North State Street.

Front seat passenger Will Johnson, 22, was taken to Mackinac Straits Hospital, where he later died. Jacob was taken to McClaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey. He succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.

Back seat passenger Kyle Johnson, 16, remains at McClaren Hospital in serious condition. Colegrove was treated for minor injuries and released.

Officials say both front seat passengers were wearing seat belts.

The crash remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
