Two meth labs found in Escanaba

ESCANABA, MI--   Five people were arrested in two separate meth busts in Escanaba.   

Tuesday around 7:30 p.m. detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team and officers from Escanaba Public Safety were called to a house on the 3100 block of 14th Avenue South.  They found three individuals and components used to manufacture meth. 

The three subjects were lodged in the Delta County Jail.  Lee Nelson, 35, and Boyd Nelson, 30, are both charged with operating/maintaining a meth lab.  The third suspect has not yet been arraigned.

Wednesday around 12:30 a.m. UPSET was called to another meth lab located by the Delta County Sheriff’s Department on the 300 block of South 18th Street.  Two suspects were jailed on charges relating to manufacturing meth. 

All hazardous materials were removed by detectives and taken to a certified container site. 

Names of the suspects are being withheld, pending arraignment.
