Two Michigan airports getting federal funding for upgrades

ESCANABA, MI (AP)--   Two Michigan airports are getting U.S. Department of Transportation support for upgrades.

U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters of Michigan announced Thursday a $476,900 grant for Delta County Airport in Escanaba. The funding will help the airport rehabilitate its runway, acquire a passenger lift for disabled travelers and update taxiway markings.

Meanwhile, the senators announced a more than $748,000 grant for MBS International Airport in Bay County from the federal government. The money will help the Lower Peninsula airport rehabilitate the concrete of its apron, the area where planes are parked.
