Two-vehicle crash in Marquette Township injures two people

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   Two people were injured in a traffic accident on Fair Avenue in Marquette Township Monday.

Sheriff’s deputies say around 12:20 p.m. Lisa Wilcox, 52, of Big Bay was westbound near Granite Street when she lost control of her vehicle on the icy street.  Her Jeep slid sideways into the path of an eastbound Tahoe driven by Amanda Haile, 36, of Marquette.

Wilcox and her 91-year-old passenger were taken to Marquette General Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.  Haile and her passenger sought their own treatment.

Deputies say all passengers were wearing their seat belts and speed and alcohol were not factors in the accident.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
