UP200, Midnight Run and Jack Pine 30 results

WLUC-TV

MARQUETTE, MI--   It was an exciting—if nose numbing—weekend of sled dog racing that started and ended in Marquette and Gwinn.

The first UP200 team to cross the finish line at Mattson Lower Harbor Park Sunday was piloted by Keith Aili of Ray, Minnesota at 1:46 p.m.  He was followed by Ryan Anderson, also of Ray, at 2 p.m., then Ryan Redington of Wasilla, Alaska at 2:44.

The finish of the Midnight Run—also at the Lower Harbor this year—was a close one Saturday morning.  Jacob Golton of L’Amable, Ontario was first at 10:43, followed only five seconds later by Kris Sampson of South River, Ontario.

And Matt Sturmer of Bruce Crossing was the winner of the Jack Pine 30 in Gwinn with a time of 2 hours, 32 minutes.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
