BREITUNG TOWNSHIP, MI--   Two Dickinson County men are dead, following a three-vehicle crash in Breitung Township.

State Police from the Iron Mountain Post say it happened Monday around 4:20 p.m. on Breitung Cutoff Road near Hydraulic Falls Road.

An eastbound vehicle containing the 58-year-old male driver and 62-year-old passenger--both of Quinnesec--struck a westbound vehicle driven by a 22-year-old Vulcan woman head-on.  Another eastbound vehicle driven by a 53-year-old woman from Vulcan then rear-ended the first one.

Both women were taken to Dickinson County Hospital with unknown injuries.  The 58-year-old man was taken to the hospital, where he later died.  The 62-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers say all involved were wearing seatbelts and airbags deployed in all three vehicles.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, Breitung Township Fire Department, Iron Mountain Police Department, Dickinson County Road Commission, and Dickinson County R300 Rescue Unit assisted at the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
