UPDATE: Pellinen still missing

UPDATE:  A missing snowmobiler from Ishpeming has been found dead in Delta County.

Marquette County Sheriff Greg Zyburt says the body of Dennis Pellinen, 54, was found at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday on North Rock Road. His snowmobile apparently ran off the road and hit a tree.

Pellinen was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Officials believe speed and alcohol were factors in the accident.

Public Radio 90 will provide further details as they're released.

MCFARLAND, MI--   The search continues in southern Marquette County for a missing snowmobiler.

Dennis Pellinen, 54, of Ishpeming left his secondary residence on County Road 444 in McFarland Sunday evening. He hasn’t been seen since.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, Marquette County Search and Rescue, Michigan State Police, McFarland Fire Department and several residents searched the area Tuesday. Local trails and roads were searched with snowmobiles and on foot.

A Michigan State Police helicopter was requested, but bad weather downstate prevented it from coming up. A Valley Med helicopter joined the search, but Pellinen has not been found.

The search continues Wednesday morning. Officials are hoping the State Police helicopter will be able to join, weather permitting.

Anyone with information regarding Pellinen’s whereabouts is asked to call Central Dispatch at 475-9912.
