UPDATE: WI police arrest suspect believed linked to attempted robbery at Escanaba CU

UPDATE: Chippewa County, Wisconsin officials have identified the man as Jason Burgett, 42, of Wisconsin. He's lodged in the Chippewa County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond.

LAKE HALLIE, WI--   Police in Escanaba and the FBI think a Milwaukee man may be linked to the attempted armed robbery of the Northern United Federal Credit Union on July 5.

Public Safety officers were notified on Monday of another armed robbery that happened in Lake Hallie, Wisconsin. The suspect, a 42-year-old Milwaukee man, was arrested after a brief chase. He was driving a black GMC Acadia at the time of the robbery and his capture.

Investigation by Wisconsin authorities, the FBI and the Escanaba Department of Public Safety have led them to believe the Lake Hallie suspect is linked to the Escanaba incident.

Nothing further will be released at this time. The investigation continues.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
