ATLANTIC MINE, MI--   Five people are jailed on drug charges in Houghton County.

The Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team on Thursday searched a residence on First Avenue in Atlantic Mine.  They discovered 50 packets of heroin, over 1.5 ounces of crack cocaine, and more than $1,900 in cash.  The street value of the drugs is estimated at $8,000.

A 50-year-old Mount Morris, Michigan man, a 25-year-old Flint man, and a 31-year-old Atlantic Mine man were charged with delivery of heroin and possession with intent to deliver heroin and crack cocaine.  A 20-year-old woman and 28-year-old man—both of Atlantic Mine—were charged with frequenting a drug house.

All five suspects remain lodged in the Houghton County jail.

UPSET was assisted by troopers and a K-9 unit from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post and deputies from the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department.
