BESSEMER, MI-- The main thoroughfare through Bessemer is being reduced to two lanes because of poor road conditions.
The Gogebic County Road Commission, in conjunction with the Michigan Department of Transportation, is restricting US-2 to one lane each way because of potholes and other damage. The shift will remain in effect until spring thaw conditions allow for more permanent repairs.
Officials are telling drivers to plan for traffic congestion and allow extra time to get through town.
