Vehicles collide in Marquette Township

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-vehicle crash on US-41 in front of the Ojibwa Express Gas Station in Marquette Township.

Wednesday around 11:40 a.m. a Dodge pickup driven by Michael Vilona, 78, of East Troy, Wisconsin was in the center turn lane when he tried to merge into eastbound traffic.  He pulled into the path of a Chevy Tahoe driven by Jamie Tasson, 37, of Ishpeming.  Both vehicles drove off the right side of the roadway and went into the ditch.

Neither driver wanted medical treatment.

The eastbound lanes of the highway were narrowed to one lane for a while.

Vilona was cited for failure to yield.
