Vehicles crash in Marquette Township

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   One person was slightly injured in a two-vehicle accident in Marquette Township.

The county Sheriff’s Department says the crash happened Wednesday around 7:25 p.m. at the intersection of US-41 and County Road HQ.

Thomas Ross, 51, of Baraga was driving his Chevy truck westbound on 41 when his vision became obstructed by the setting sun.  Ross didn’t see the traffic signal turn red and he crashed into a Dodge Caravan driven by Lisa Rautiola, 24, of Marquette.

Rautiola was taken to Marquette General Hospital for treatment of head and neck pain.  Ross was not injured.

Deputies say Ross was at fault for disregarding a traffic control device.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
