Veterans honored on November 11

MARQUETTE, MI--   Activities honoring veterans are being held across Michigan Friday—Veterans’ Day.

At Michigan Tech a brief ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. at the Husky statue.  The community is then invited to stop by several locations on campus to sign “thank you” cards to be sent to Tech alumni veterans.  And vets will be honored at Michigan Tech’s hockey game with Lake Superior State University Friday night.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Forest Service is waiving fees at most of its day-use recreation sites through Sunday.

The Forest Service also honors active duty military members year-round with the free interagency annual military pass honored at all Forest Service, National Park Service, Bureau of Reclamation, and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service sites.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
