Washington man arraigned for Escanaba felonies

ESCANABA, MI--   A pickup driver who caused several accidents in Escanaba Saturday night has been arraigned. 

Peter Walls, 28, of Chaney, Washington is accused of hitting a vehicle at the intersection of Ludington Street and Lincoln Road. He then hit another vehicle on North Lincoln Road and rammed it down the street. An officer with Escanaba Public Safety then saw Walls’ truck rear-end a passenger vehicle stopped on 3rd Avenue North.

Walls was arraigned Monday on one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, two counts of felonious assault with a dangerous weapon, and one count of resisting/obstructing a police officer.

He remains lodged in the Delta County Jail on a $500,000 cash or surety bond. A probable cause hearing is set for June 28, and a preliminary exam for July 5 in Delta County District Court.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
