MARQUETTE, MI--   Northern Michigan University’s Physics Department is offering residents a safe way to view Monday’s partial eclipse.

The NMU Observatory Dome will equip its telescope with a sun filter, which will block out more than 90 percent of the sun’s light.

Visitors should enter the rotunda entrance at the West Science Building and follow directional signs to the catwalk of the Observatory Dome. Overflow visitors will be able to view NASA streaming video of the eclipse in a nearby classroom.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
