West Branch Township ORV crash injures driver and passenger

WEST BRANCH TOWNSHIP, MI--   Two people were injured in an ORV accident in Dickinson County Sunday.

Michigan State Police from the Iron Mountain Post say it happened around 6:10 p.m. in an off-road area near Schultz Road in West Branch Township.

Troopers say Zachary Suarez, 20, of Channing was driving the side-by-side with Matthew Schultz, 25, of Norway as a passenger. Suarez lost control of the ORV while going over a berm at a high rate of speed. The vehicle flipped, ejecting both men, and came to rest on its roof.

Suarez and Schultz were taken to Dickinson Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Troopers say neither man was wearing a seatbelt.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
