Whitmer requests hospital donations

LANSING, MI--   Governor Gretchen Whitmer is asking residents to donate essential medical supplies and personal protective equipment to hospitals in the state.

Whitmer says the federal government isn’t providing the tools states need, and hospitals are facing a shortage of items like face masks. Some medical professionals are even being forced to reuse masks multiple times. She says that increases the risk of spreading the coronavirus at a time when everything should be done to stop it.

The items most needed at this time are hospital gowns, ventilators, hand and wipe sanitizer, gloves, surgical masks, N95 to N100 masks, and no-touch thermometers. The list will be updated as efforts progress.

Donations can be directed to the Michigan Community Service Commission at COVID19donations@michigan.gov or 517-335-4295.
