Wildcats to play in hockey championships

MARQUETTE, MI--   The Northern Michigan University men's hockey team is headed to the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Championships. 

NMU defeated No. 17 Bowling Green Sunday night, 3-2, in overtime. It will be the first time the Wildcats have appeared in the conference championships since 2010.

With the victory, the Wildcats advance to play Michigan Technological University this weekend at the Berry Events Center. The Huskies defeated Minnesota State in overtime on Sunday to advance.

As the highest remaining seed, NMU will host Tech Saturday at 7 p.m.

Tickets for Saturday's championship go on sale Monday morning at 8:00 at the Berry Events Center Ticket Office. Tickets will only be sold in-person at the office.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
