Woman jailed for charging more than $2,500 on stolen credit card

MARQUETTE, MI--   A Gwinn woman is lodged in the Marquette County Jail for stealing and using another woman’s credit card.

On Monday Forsyth Township Police received a complaint from the victim that her card was taken and used in the Marquette area without her permission. She was able to provide the name of a possible suspect who had access to her home.

Police went to various local merchants and were able to obtain receipts and view in-store videos showing the transactions. They confirmed the suspect was the one identified by the victim.

Later in the day police arrested Cassandra Hurrell, 29, of Gwinn for breaking and entering with intent and stealing/retaining a financial transaction device without consent. Investigation revealed Hurrell allegedly charged more than $2,500 on the victim’s credit card.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
