Woman jailed for taking drugs from Marquette hospital

MARQUETTE, MI--   A Marquette woman has been arrested for stealing drugs from UPHS-Marquette.

The Marquette Police Department says two felony warrants were authorized for Heather Peterson, 30. The charges stem from an April, 2018 investigation into 75 vials of fentanyl and 75 oxycodone tablets that were missing from the hospital. Peterson was employed by UPHS-Marquette at the time.

Police were able to recover 72 vials of the fentanyl.

Peterson remains lodged at the Marquette County Jail for larceny in a building and possession of a controlled substance. Bond is set at $10,000.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
