MARQUETTE, MI— The Downtown Marquette Social District officially opens Tuesday.
It will operate daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The boundaries are set to include any downtown bar or restaurant participating in the District.
People can buy a Social District beverage in a specially marked container and consume it outside, within the District boundaries. Containers are one-time use only, and extra trash receptacles have been placed around the area to help with disposal.
The public is reminded that participating in the Social District is for those who are 21 years of age and older, and public drunkenness is still against the law.
A list of participating businesses is at www.downtownmarquette.org.
