Fall is here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and at Escanaba's Bonifas Arts Center, they are ready with a full slate of arts & culture activities.

The end of June is here, which means that we are entering summer in earnest in the Upper Great Lakes.  The Bonifas Arts Center has events, concerts, exhibits, and classes throughout, and Sue Roll (Executive Director) wants to share information about how to get engaged in arts and culture in Escanaba and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan:

Our monthly update from the Bonifas Arts Center brings events and classes for all ages, along with a special dinner combined with artists and theater.  Sue Roll, Executive Director of the Bonifas, spoke with Public Radio 90 about "On 7th & Ludington," along with an upcoming concert and reception in May, as well as explaining what Wet Felting is!

Marquette Choral Society / Travel Marquette

This April 2019, the Marquette Choral Society presents "Russian Nights," music of Rachmaninoff & Chesnokov.  The concert consists of Russian music, mostly of Orthodox traditions.  Pieces featured are Sergei Rachmaninoff's "All Night Vigil, Op. 37" in Church Slavonic, Pavel Chesnokov's "Let Thy Good Spirit" and "Salvation is Created," in English, as well as a Russian folk song "Veniki".

Olympus Piano Trio NMU Residency/Concerts

The Olympus Piano Trio is a classical music performance group that has taken residency here at Northern Michigan University this week.  They joined us in the studio during Morning Classics to discuss the residency and their concerts from all across campus this week.

Northern Michigan University's Music Department Head Dr. Robert Engelhart joined us in the studio during Morning Classics to discuss the upcoming residency of the Olympus Piano Trio and their schedule of events and performances.

The Olympus Piano Trio performs throughout the campus of Northern Michigan University this week, ending with a concert at Reynolds Recital Hall on Friday, March 31st at 7:30pm.  For more information, please go to
