Bay Cliff Health Camp

BIG BAY, MI--   For the first time in its 87-year history Bay Cliff Health Camp will not be holding its therapy summer camp this year. 

However, officials say the COVID-19 virus will not stop their commitment to their campers. Volunteers and community partners who would have been summer staff are creating online content for Bay Cliff Virtual Camp.

The activities and sessions are meant for all age groups and abilities.

BIG BAY, MI--   Registration for this winter’s Becoming an Outdoors Woman program is now open.

Sponsored by the Department of Natural Resources, the weekend event lets women improve their outdoor skills in a relaxed, noncompetitive atmosphere. Instruction will be offered in more than two dozen activities, including cross-country skiing, archery, winter camping and shelter building, fly tying, and wilderness first aid.

BOW participants stay and take their classes at Bay Cliff Health Camp near Big Bay. Food, lodging and most materials are included.

MARQUETTE, MI--   Registration for this summer’s Becoming an Outdoors Woman program is now open.

It’s the 20th time the Department of Natural Resources has hosted the event for women 18 and older who want to improve their outdoor skills.  BOW coordinator Sharon Pitz says it’s a non-competitive program where each person learns at her own pace in an atmosphere of fun and camaraderie.

MARQUETTE, MI--   Female outdoor enthusiasts and the Department of Natural Resources are gearing up for this year’s Becoming an Outdoors-Woman winter program.  

U.P. BOW coordinator Sharon Pitz says the program is a chance for women to try such activities as cross-country skiing, ice fishing, dog sledding and snow shoeing in a pressure-free environment.
