SOUTH REPUBLIC, MI--   Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post are investigating the breaking and entering of a South Republic business.

Someone broke into Peter’s True Value in the early morning hours of April 1 and took several items, including tobacco and alcohol. State Police evidence technicians were able to obtain prints and DNA samples from the scene.

The owner of the business is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

MANISTIQUE, MI--   A Rapid River man has been arrested in connection with several breaking-and-entering cases in Schoolcraft County.

Over the past month Manistique Public Safety officers have conducted investigations within the city and troopers from the Manistique Outpost handled similar investigations in the county. Multiple search warrants were executed, resulting in the recovery of stolen items.

BESSEMER, MI--   A Wakefield man has been arrested in connection with several breaking and entering incidents in Bessemer. 

State Police with the Wakefield Post were notified Friday of a home invasion in the city. Someone broke into a residence and vehicle. Two purses and about $245 were stolen.

The Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office had taken four vehicle B&E complaints around the same time. Troopers and deputies worked together to identify a 29-year-old man as a suspect. He was arrested on a violation for using narcotics while out on bond for other home invasions.

NEWBERRY, MI--   A Newberry man is in custody for breaking into a home in the city. 

Saturday around 8:30 p.m. Michigan State Police from the Sault Ste. Marie Post were dispatched on a report of a man actively breaking into a house on East Avenue D. When troopers arrived the suspect saw them and went back into the occupied house. Troopers got the occupants out, then found the suspect hiding under a pile of clothes. He was taken into custody.

CALUMET, MI--   Troopers from the Calumet Post are investigating a robbery at the Copper Country Curling Club.

It happened Friday around 1 a.m. Surveillance shows two men walking around the building before entering it through a window. The suspects left with items in their hands.

Troopers are asking for assistance in identifying the men. Anyone who has information about the suspects or the incident is asked to call the Calumet Post at 906-337-5145.

KEARSARGE, MI--   Michigan State Police from the Calumet Post are seeking tips regarding the breaking-and-entering of a Kearsarge residence.

Troopers say it happened between Saturday, March 22 at 11:55 p.m. and Sunday, March 23 at 12:55 a.m. The suspect forced his way into the house and took an undisclosed amount of money before leaving.

PARADISE, MI--   Michigan State Police at the Sault Ste. Marie Post want the public’s help in solving a breaking and entering case in Paradise. 

On August 10th of last year someone entered a seasonal cabin on Vermillion Road by forcing the front door open. The suspect or suspects also got into a shed by removing an external wall.

Stolen from the two buildings were a chainsaw, car batteries, a toolbox, tools, flashing and other miscellaneous items.

Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to call the Sault Ste. Marie Post at 632-2217.

ST. IGNACE TOWNSHIP, MI--   Michigan State Police have arrested a man for breaking into the Moose Lodge in St. Ignace Township. 

Troopers were able to identify a suspect and later found him near the venue. Police also identified items suspected of being stolen from the scene.

A 54-year-old St. Ignace man was arrested and lodged in the Mackinac County Jail pending his arraignment.

Troopers were assisted by the Mackinac County Sheriff’s Department.

BESSEMER, MI--   A Gogebic County woman has been charged in connection with a breaking-and-entering in Ironwood late Saturday night.

Public Safety officers say the incident involved several suspects entering the building with a handgun.

On Sunday the Gogebic Iron Area Narcotics Team and Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant on a Bessemer residence. They recovered evidence connected to the previous night’s crime.

PENTLAND TOWNSHIP, MI--   Michigan State Police from the Sault Ste. Marie Post are investigating the break-in of a seasonal residence near Newberry. 

Troopers say sometime between February 9 and February 21 of this year someone forced their way into a residence on M-28 in Pentland Township. A World War II-era Japanese rifle with attached scope was taken from the home.
