MENOMINEE, MI--   A former Menominee County Sheriff’s deputy who pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct with a teenager faces more charges in another case involving a minor.

Brian Helfert, 57, was arraigned Friday on 11 charges, including child sexually abusive activity; four counts of 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct; three counts of 3rd-degree CSC; assault with intent to commit penetration; gross indecency between males; and being a sexually delinquent person.

MENOMINEE, MI (AP)--   A former Menominee County Sheriff’s deputy accused in the sexual assault of a teenage boy has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.

Brian Helfert of Menominee pleaded guilty in court Friday to attempted accosting for immoral purposes, which carries a penalty of up to two years in prison. The 57-year-old was initially charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a trial expected this month.

Helfert was fired from the Menominee County Sheriff’s Department in December. His sentencing date on the new charges is Dec. 4.

MENOMINEE, MI--   The former Menominee County Sheriff’s deputy charged with sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy has been bound over to circuit court.

A preliminary hearing for Brian Helfert, 56, was held Tuesday in Menominee. He’s charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. A Menominee High School student told city police the sexual contact occurred on November 10 while he was at Helfert’s home.

Helfert was bound over to Menominee Circuit Court on all charges. His arraignment is set for March 17.

MENOMINEE, MI (AP)--  A former Menominee County Sheriff’s deputy has been charged in the sexual assault of a 16-year-old boy. 

Brian Helfert, 56, faces arraignment January 22 on two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. He was arrested Monday and released after posting a $5,000 bond.

A Menominee High School student told city police the sexual contact occurred on November 10 while he was at Helfert’s home.

Helfert was fired December 19 from the Sheriff’s Office, where he worked as a school liaison officer and juvenile crime investigator.
