Kurt Hauswirth spoke with Chris Trevino, Technical Director at The Calumet Theatre, about the next installment of the "Dinner & A Movie" Film Series, coming Friday, January 19th.  The film is "Elina," a 2002 film set in rural Sweden in the early 1950s, and involves a battle of wills involving Swedish and Finnish heritage.

The dinner starts at 6pm and the film begins at approximately 7:15pm.

Kurt Hauswirth spoke with Laura Miller, Executive Director at The Calumet Theatre, in Calumet, MI.  The Dinner and Movie Series will continue with "All Quiet on the Western Front," Friday, September 29th, 2017, with dinner starting at 6pm.

Kurt Hauswirth spoke with Jan-Erik Osterholm, representative of the Finnish male choir from Porvoo, Finland (who was also on the phone in Finland), in regards to their upcoming American tour.  They will be coming to Calumet and Marquette on their Midwest tour, and Kurt and Jan-Erik talked details of the tour, repertoire, and about the choir themselves.

CALUMET, MI--   Students in the Copper Country are getting teams together for this year’s High School Local History Smackdown. 

The Smackdown—now in its 14th year—tests teams’ knowledge of local history, geography and geology related to Keweenaw, Baraga, Ontonagon, and Houghton counties.  This year’s competition will pay special attention to Keweenaw National Historical Park, Isle Royale National Park, and the National Park Service, which celebrates its 100th birthday this year.
